SMIPA – a Professional Year Program for the Graduates of the Accounting Degrees

What is SMIPA?

SMIPA is the short form for Skilled Migration Internship Program – Accounting, which was initiated by DIAC and the three Australian accounting professional bodies – CA, CPA and NIA.

What SIMPA can provide?

Accounting positions in Australia are in demand. SMIPA provides professional development, under the mentorship of professional accountants, and practical hands-on learning with an emphasis on workplace preparation, communication, participating in teams, providing effective client service, occupation-specific knowledge and skills, and strategies to manage personal career development.

What does SMIPA mean for Skilled Migration?

As a program approved by the DIAC, the international students who successfully completed of the SMIPA will be eligible to receive an additional 10 points towards permanent residence under the general skilled migration points test.

Who are eligible to participate in SMIPA?

Those eligible are international students who completed Australian Accounting Degrees, studied in Australia for at least 2 years and submitted their application for the 485 Skilled Graduate Visa.

Where the students can participate in SMIPA?

Top Education Group is an approved provider of SMIPA in Sydney. The Accounting graduates from any institute are welcome to Top for SMIPA. Top also provides the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), the Master of Professional Accounting and the Master of Professional Accounting and Business of the University of New England (UNE). All students enrolled in the above UNE programs in Sydney are eligible to join SMIPA as a favorable continuing program.

What are the duration and the fee for SMIPA?

The duration of SMIPA at Top is 45-weeks $12,000 GST inclusive
