Duty Statement

Position Title: Lecturer

 

Role Description:

The Lecturer will be expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the Institute and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her scholarly and/or professional activities relevant to the discipline. The Lecturer will report directly to the Academic Director of Business Studies. The applicants must be specialized in one of the following disciplines:

  • Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Management
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • International Business

 

Statement of Duties:


Initially attend an induction and orientation program within the first week of employment in order to have an understanding of all of the Institute’s policies and procedures as outlined in the staff policies and procedures.

  • Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations and workshops.
  • Initiation and development of subject material.
  • Preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
  • Involvement in professional activity.
  • Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of the Academic Director of Business Studies.
  • Marking and assessment.
  • Consultation with students.
  • A range of administrative functions the majority of which are connected with the subjects which the academic teaches.
  • Attendance at monthly staff meetings and/or possible membership of a committee.
  • Participate in and act upon regular teaching reviews.
  • Possibility of acting as a unit coordinator.
  • Attend professional development sessions as advised
  • Participate in daily life of the Institute.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters listed above
